ベトナム国営の軍隊工業通信グループ、クアルコムとO-RAN準拠の5G基地局を開発

ベトナムのViettel Group (軍隊工業通信グループ)の支店であるViettel High Technology Industries Corporation – Branch of Viettel Groupおよび米国(アメリカ)のQualcommの完全子会社で同国のQualcomm TechnologiesはViettel High Technology Industries Corporation – Branch of Viettel GroupがQualcomm Technologiesと協力して最初の第5世代移動通信システム(5G)の基地局の開発に成功したと発表した。

Viettel High Technology Industries Corporation – Branch of Viettel GroupはQualcomm Technologiesが提供するQualcomm QRU100 5G RAN PlatformやQualcomm X100 5G RAN Accelerator Cardに基づき5Gの基地局を構成する通信設備である無線装置および分散ノードの開発に成功している。

なお、Qualcomm QRU100 5G RAN Platformは大規模MIMO (Massive MIMO)に対応したアンテナ一体型無線装置向けプラットフォームである。

オープン無線アクセスネットワーク(オープンRAN)の仕様策定を推進する標準化団体であるO-RAN ALLIANCEで策定した仕様に準拠するため、O-RANの標準仕様に準拠したアンテナ一体型無線装置を開発できる。

Qualcomm X100 5G RAN Accelerator Cardはパフォーマンスの向上や消費電力の削減を実現する。

Viettel High Technology Industries Corporation – Branch of Viettel Groupが開発した無線装置および分散ノードはO-RANの標準仕様に準拠しており、無線装置は大規模MIMOに対応したアンテナ一体型無線装置となる。

2023年第2四半期に商用環境で試験を行い、2023年第4四半期に商用で展開を開始する計画である。

Viettel Groupは同社の支店であるViettel Telecom Corporation – Branch of Viettel Groupを通じてベトナムで移動体通信事業者(MNO)として携帯通信事業を展開している。

Viettel High Technology Industries Corporation – Branch of Viettel Groupが開発した基地局はViettel Telecom Corporation – Branch of Viettel Groupで採用する。

Viettel Groupはベトナムの政府機関である国防省(Ministry of National Defence：MOD)が完全所有しており、ベトナム共産党中央軍事委員会の指導に基づき運営する国営企業である。

ベトナム国内では法人格を持たない支店および法人格を持つ子会社を通じて事業を行う。

通信設備の開発と携帯通信事業は支店が展開している。
