ベトナムのViettel TelecomがiPhone向けeSIMサービスの提供を開始

ベトナムのViettel Group (軍隊工業通信グループ)の従属会計単位で同国の移動体通信事業者(MNO)であるViettel Telecom Corporation – Branch of Viettel GroupはeSIMサービスの提供を開始した。

Viettel Telecom Corporation – Branch of Viettel Groupは2019年2月1日よりeSIMサービスの提供を開始しており、eSIMサービスの提供はベトナムの移動体通信事業者としては初めてである。

米国のAppleが発売したスマートフォン「Apple iPhone XS」、「Apple iPhone XS Max」、「Apple iPhone XR」がeSIMサービスに対応する。

Apple iPhone XS、Apple iPhone XS Max、Apple iPhone XRは一部のモデルを除いてeSIMに対応しており、ベトナムで正規販売されるApple iPhone XS、Apple iPhone XS Max、Apple iPhone XRではすべてeSIMを利用できる。

なお、Viettel Telecom Corporation – Branch of Viettel GroupはApple iPhone XS、Apple iPhone XS Max、Apple iPhone XRを正規に取り扱う。

Apple iPhone XS、Apple iPhone XS Max、Apple iPhone XRのeSIMは業界団体のGSM Association (GSMA)の標準規格であるリモートSIMプロビジョニング(RSP)に準拠している。

eSIMの機能を有効化するためには、iOS 12.1以降のバージョンのiOSを利用する必要がある。

Viettel Telecom Corporation – Branch of Viettel Groupが発行した専用のQRコードを読み取ると、eSIMにプランを追加できる。

既存のViettel Telecom Corporation – Branch of Viettel Groupの加入者は無料で物理的なSIMカードからeSIMに変更できるほか、オンラインでQRコードを受け取れる。

なお、Viettel Groupはベトナムの政府機関でベトナム人民軍を統括する国防省(Ministry of National Defence：MOD)が完全所有し、ベトナム共産党中央軍事委員会(Central Military Commission of the Communist Party of Vietnam)の指導に基づいて運営する軍系列の国営企業である。

従属会計単位は法人格がない支店の扱いとなり、本社であるViettel Groupの委任によって事業を行う。
