Apple、iPhoneのeSIM対応事業者にViettelを正式に追加

米国のAppleはベトナムのViettel Group (軍隊工業通信グループ)の従属会計単位で同国の移動体通信事業者(MNO)であるViettel Telecom Corporation – Branch of Viettel Groupを公式にeSIMサービスを提供する通信事業者に追加した。

ベトナムでは2019年2月1日よりViettel Telecom Corporation – Branch of Viettel Groupを皮切りに、VNPT VinaPhone Corporation、MobiFone CorporationがApple製のスマートフォン「Apple iPhone XS」、「Apple iPhone XS Max」、「Apple iPhone XR」向けにeSIMサービスの提供を順次開始している。

しかし、これまではViettel Telecom Corporation – Branch of Viettel Group、VNPT VinaPhone Corporation、MobiFone CorporationはいずれもAppleが公表するeSIMサービスを提供している通信事業者の一覧に掲載されていなかった。

ようやくベトナムで最大手のViettel Telecom Corporation – Branch of Viettel Groupがベトナムの通信事業者として初めてAppleが公表するeSIMサービスを提供している通信事業者の一覧に掲載されており、Viettel Telecom Corporation – Branch of Viettel GroupはAppleより公式に承認されたことになる。

なお、Apple iPhone XS、Apple iPhone XS Max、Apple iPhone XRのeSIMは業界団体のGSM Association (GSMA)の標準規格であるリモートSIMプロビジョニング(RSP)に準拠するため、これらのiPhoneを正規販売しない通信事業者でも相次いでiPhone向けeSIMサービスを開始している状況にある。
