インドで大規模な周波数オークションが終了、Tata Teleservicesなど7社が取得

インドの政府機関で電気通信事業などを管轄する通信省(Ministry of Communications)傘下の電気通信局(Department of Telecommunications)は2016年9月29日より周波数オークションを実施し、周波数オークションの暫定結果を発表した。

周波数オークションは移動体通信向けに700MHz帯、800MHz帯、900MHz帯、1.8GHz帯、2.1GHz帯、2.3GHz帯、2.5GHz帯を新規割当もしくは再割当し、Idea Cellular、Vodafone India、Bharti Airtel、Aircel、Tata Teleservices、Reliance Communications、Reliance Jio Infocommの7社が周波数オークションに参加した。

7社とも少なくとも1ブロック以上は周波数を獲得しており、同一の周波数でもテレコムサークルにより落札者が異なる。

なお、AircelとReliance Communicationsは合併が決定しているが、それぞれ周波数を取得している。
